In the film Moonrise Kingdom, Suzy, a main female character, runs away from home, taking her favorite objects with her in a suitcase. She bonds with Sam, a main male character, as they share and understand each other’s wounded hearts. Unable to adapt to reality, they build an ideal world in the forest.
This reimagined title sequence uses Suzy’s suitcase as a framing device. The sequence begins with close-up shots of a magical amusement park which represents Suzy and Sam’s ideal world. The camera slowly zooms back to reveal that this magical world only exists inside Suzy’s suitcase. Finally, we see the suitcase in a dark and lonely room, contrasting thier imagination with their reality.

We rented a photo studio to composite the fantastical amusement park into a photograph of a realistic room, resulting in a surreal and captivating effect.
